Welcome to another Friday post.
With Polling Day yesterday and May Day Bank Holiday on Monday, it will make for a couple of shorter weeks. This has impacted upon consistent attendance. No doubt, some families have taken the opportunity to spend a long weekend away.
May is a busy month with the House Swimming Gala on 10th May, ‘Wear Green’ to kick off Mental Health Week also on 10th May. SATs Week starts on 13th May and Sports Day for all year groups is on 21st May. The summer disco for Years 3, 4 and 5 is after school on 23rd May. We break up for half term on Friday 24th May. Celebration Assembly: Star of the Week nominations were for individuals across the school who could show that they care for the environment. Well done to Ella, Dexter, Mason, Alex, Roman, Zac, N’ana, Ivy, Aadritti and Cree. Our congratulations to all those children who have been up-levelling on Reading Plus. Data clearly shows that regular practice on our online reading portal certainly makes a difference to progress in reading. Raaya, Mihnea and Artie have been Lexia Superstars this week: doing well in practising their phonics skills online.
Sports Personalities: for perseverance in their sporting pursuits this week: Dennis, Jayden, Eloise, Kaiden, Cree and Ade. Jack has achieved his level 4 swimming award in his lessons outside school and we had 3 Super Skippers this week: Sebastian, Mason and Beau.
Our prayers in assembly today were led by Year 3. Our thanks to Thium, Renayah and Raiden.
Holiday Activities: We don’t have a sports camp on in the coming half term, but Beeches Pool is hosting more of their very successful intensive swimming lessons 28th to 31st May. Times vary depending upon what stage your child is at. The cost is £28 for 4 consecutive days’ lessons. Contact the pool for more details: 0121 5165638.
Aston Villa Foundation are also hosting May half term soccer schools at various locations across the city for 5-12 year olds. Follow the link if you are interested in booking.

New Recruits: We have a confirmed list of all those families who have been offered and have accepted their place at Glenmead for September 2024. We notice there are a lot of siblings this year.

Special mention to: Bella and Aila, who both achieved their pen licence this week. We have a few children across Years 2, 3 and 4 who are all aspiring to achieve their pen licence currently. Consistency across all subjects (even homework) is definitely the key.
Perry Beeches – Make Lunch: another reminder about Perry Beeches Baptist Church ‘Make Lunch’ club aimed at primary aged pupils and their families on 29th May. Booking is essential. Get in touch with Zoeta Brown, coordinator on: 07874 954112 if you and your child would like to go along.
